We engage with partners and volunteers to build welcoming communities and culturally customized services for Syrian newcomers and other diverse communities.

Job Description

The Syrian Canadian Foundation is looking for a passionate and creative Social Media Coordinator to support the implementation of its various projects. This position will be responsible for developing and executing an engaging Social Media strategy to increase online presence and keep followers and clients informed on all our programs and events.

 

The Social Media Coordinator will report directly to the Communications Manager and will work side by side with project managers in the designated project-related activities and tasks.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work closely with project managers to ensure content is informative and appealing
  • Maintain a unified brand voice across different social media channels
  • Assist in the creation and editing of written, video, and photo content
  • Attend events and produce live social media content
  • Brainstorm ideas for social media campaigns and assist in the creation and development of said content
  • Maintain an active presence on all social media platforms by always engaging with followers, clients as well as partner organizations

Requirements

  • A degree in writing, communication, design, marketing, or similar
  • 1 year of previous experience in a similar role
  • Experience in working with newcomers and/or refugees is preferred but not mandatory
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
  • Creative, flexible and adaptable.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic 
  • Critical reading and thinking skills
  • An interest in current events and a general thirst for knowledge
  • Resilience and the ability to accept constructive feedback

Work Conditions

  • Work may require flexibility in hours
  • Remote/ some in person activities and meetings

Eligibility:

  • Must be a youth (under 30 years-old)
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (international students are not eligible)
